Our History

Our Beginning

The history of Lord of Life Lutheran Church really begins on September 14, 1969. On that day, 130 people gathered to worship God in an unfinished building atop the hill on Twinbrook Road. Now, more than four decades later, the current church building at our Fairfax location is five times as large as the original one and more than 500-600 people worship there each week.

One Congregation On Two Locations

Seeking the opportunity to grow and reach out to the community, Lord of Life Lutheran Church is pursuing a new concept in ministry with "One Congregation on Two Locations." Our second location is in the Clifton/Centreville area. The new Worship Center there was dedicated in September, 2008. With God's blessing we will continue to grow as one congregation at our two locations in Fairfax County, VA.

We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it.
The process is not yet finished, but it is going on.
This is not the end, but it is the road.
--Martin Luther
